Questions & Answers

in view of the submission of proposals to the NuPNET Call

QUESTION 1:
Can an accepted project fund researchers (for ex. under Topic3 in theoretical physics) from institutions/countries that do not fund this first NuPNET Call?
ANSWER 1
No.

QUESTION 2:
Could institutions join the call that are not funding it? The other NuPNET partners? CERN? Non-NuPNET Institutions/Countries? If so, what would be the conditions? If not, is there another solution?
ANSWER 2
The call states that only research groups funded by NuPNET agencies promoting this call can participate as partners of a joint activity requesting funds from this call. However, proposals that include a limited number of research groups from countries not belonging to NuPNET will not be rejected. If the proposal is selected for funding, these additional project partners can join the consortium as "associate" if they can provide and guarantee their own source of funding. Special attention will be paid by the Involved Funding Agencies (IFA) in the NUPNET Call to the relative contribution of potential associate partners to the consortium. The NuPNET Common Call Secretariat (CCS) will inform the Peer Review Panel (PRP) that participation of associate(s) should not be considered as an added value for the proposal.

QUESTION 3:
Could a project that is running today but that is going to end by October 2011 (for example) find a continuation through this NuPNET Call and thus be acceptable?
ANSWER 3
This decision concerns evaluators. The proposals will be judged on the basis of the seven criteria that are stated in the NuPNET Common Call Procedure, chapter 5 “Criteria for Assessment”.

QUESTION 4:
The funds which the participating institutions say they would provide, could they be lower than expected?
ANSWER 4
The funds provided by each institution/agency participating in the NuPNET Call could be higher than expected. A lower contribution can only be justified by “an unexpected and unforeseen budget cut” by the funding agency asking for this lower contribution.

QUESTION 5:
What happens with those projects that are submitted after 5pm on 22 April 2011 because of an electronic breakdown?
ANSWER 5
If a problem happens with the electronic submission of proposals, the NuPNET Common Call Secretariat (CCS) will be flexible and will prolong by one day for example the deadline to insure the submission will take place.
Please note that the Project co-ordinator(s) will receive an email confirming receipt of the submitted proposal.
